The T-wing system (TWS) advertises a 5.3% increase in casting distance while maintaining even spooling. Search around at different vendors and you'll be able to find Daiwa's TWS video.Daiwa T3 Ballistic Reel B-Cast 5bb+1rb 7.1:1 120/14# Size 7.1:1 - R/HI took it out this past weekend in cool conditions with fair to moderate wind. The reel performed up to and beyond my expectations. I was using 8lb floro, with a 1/2oz jig. Even before fine tuning the over spooling was minimal and I only had one minor rat's nest that was my fault because of poor casting technique. This alone makes it a very good reel. It has the ability to select "Max Brake" for casts into the wind, "All Around" for most casts, and "Long Cast" for that extra length. I did most of my casting using the All Around mode and performance was as good or better than I had anticipated. I did experience longer casting lengths overall with very good control. The reel is well made and fits good in the hand with excellent grip. The action is smooth and positive.I really wanted to purchase this year's (2012) model DAIWA T3 T31016H, but at $429 it was out of my price range so I settled for the Daiwa T3 Ballistic. The reel cost is high but thus far has performed very well and I think it was worth it; although I truly feel it is slightly over priced (15-20%). But look around and you should be able to find it around the $200 mark.I really like this reel.Gone fishin'!
